Harry Craddock, the world's most famous bartender and inventor of the famous White Lady Cocktail, presided over the bar. Craddock, at the very suggestion of a special occasion would devise a brand new cocktail to mark the event, a custom which The Savoy continue to this day under the direction of the head barman, Peter Dorelli, himself now a veteran of 25 years in The American Bar.
